If you're planning to give birth at Trinity Health Grand Rapids's Birth Center, I'm here to help you feel prepared, supported, and confident throughout labor and birth. I've attended a few births at Trinity, all medicated vaginal births, including inductions. I see more first-time parents here, and while the hospital layout can take some getting used to, especially if you're arriving through the ER after hours, I'm familiar with the route to L&D on the ninth floor and can help you know what to expect when you arrive.
Labor Support at Trinity
One thing I really like about Trinity is their labor carts. They're stocked with things that can make labor more comfortable, including fans, aromatherapy, twinkle lights, and other comfort items. Those little things can make a big difference when you're trying to make a hospital room feel more comfortable and peaceful.
Preparing for Your Birth
My clients' concerns at Trinity tend to be the same ones I hear everywhere: Will I know what to do? What if I want an unmedicated birth? What if I change my mind? What happens if something doesn't go according to plan?
Whether you're planning an induction, hoping for an unmedicated birth, or planning to use an epidural, I'll help you prepare for your options and stay supported as labor unfolds.

A Personal Connection to Trinity
Trinity Health Grand Rapids, formerly associated with the Saint Mary's and Mercy Health names, has a special place in my doula journey.
That birth was an important part of how I began supporting families through Medicaid, and it's one of the reasons Trinity is a meaningful hospital for me personally.
Knowing Trinity's Policies
Because Trinity is a Catholic-affiliated hospital, some reproductive procedures may not be available there. If you're considering a procedure such as postpartum sterilization, talk with your provider ahead of time about whether it will be offered and what your options are.
I can also attend OR births at Trinity, although I haven't personally supported an OR birth there yet.

My role isn't to take over your birth. I'm there to help you understand what's happening, offer comfort measures, support your partner, and help you stay connected to your choices.
